Arkitip Elist0138
7 August 2009
Last September, we released Arkitip Issue No. 0048 featuring the work of Ryan McGinness. In addition to the the 112 page issue edition, the custom designed 0048 box holds a 144 page artist's book entitled Aesthetic Comfort.
This book was printed entirely with fluorescent orange, yellow, pink, and green inks, with a full bleed varnish throughout and shows details of Ryan's paintings converted to coarse halftones (Ryan talks to Peter Sutherland about the production of the book in the Chronicle we produced for this issue).
While working with our printer to accomplish the desired effect, we couldn't help but take a few of the uncut 25 x 38 In. press sheets (pictured here
) and send them to Ryan's studio in Chinatown. Ryan, in turn, made these pages into one-of-a-kind oversized Aesthetic Comfort posters. He created one large silkscreen and applied it liberally and uniquely to all the pages we sent him. Some received a single impression, others three. Metallic gold ink was used on a few, black and shades of blue otherwise. To top it off, the individual sheets came from different sections of the book and feature different fluorescent artwork. Each of these Aesthetic Comfort prints is completely unique and fewer than 50 exist. As an exclusive for our loyal Elist subscribers, we're offering one of these prints free with the purchase of Arkitip Issue No. 0048, Ryan McGinness. Just add the issue to your order
